Index of /tf-tant/floma/sw/samplicator
UDP Samplicator receives UDP datagrams on a given port and resends those datagrams to a specified set of receivers. In addition, a sampling divisor N may be specified individually for each receiver, which will then only receive one in N of the received packets.
Just found out about this project from Introducing Xubuntu interesting review. I have used XFCE before, always felt comfy with it.
Xubuntu - Xfce and Ubuntu Dynamite
Xubuntu is a complete GNU/Linux based system with an Ubuntu base. It's lighter, and more efficient than Ubuntu with GNOME or KDE, since it uses the Xfce Desktop environment, which makes it ideal for old or low-end machines, as well as thin-client networks.
I need to layout documentation, in a book form. I'm going to be picky about the formatting and I've palyed around a little with abiword and openoffice.org . This looks like a suitably powerful package, question is how fast can I finish the project with a new learning curve?

bochs: The Open Source IA-32 Emulation Project (Home Page)
The 'typical' use of bochs is to provide complete x86 PC emulation, including the x86 processor, hardware devices, and memory. This allows you to run OS's and software within the emulator on your workstation, much like you have a machine inside of a machine.
Changes in 2.2 (May 28, 2005):Brief summary :
- New floating point emulator based on SoftFloat floating point
emulation library.
- improved x86-64 emulation
- Cirrus SVGA card emulation added
- status bar with indicators for keyboard, floppy, cdrom and disk (gui dependant)
- many improvements in Bochs emulated I/O devices (e.g. PCI subsystem)
FAQ - User Agent Switcher Extension Documentation
using the agent switcher and having java installed, you can't restart firefox if you changed the default! ouch!
Why doesn't Mozilla Firefox or Mozilla start with the User Agent Switcher set to something other than 'Default'? Bug 83376 is related to this issue. As of version 0.3.1 of the User Agent Switcher you can check the 'Reset the user agent' option to turn the user agent back to 'Default' when the browser closes which fixes this issue. However, if you still end up unable to start the browser you should find the file 'prefs.js' in your profile and delete the line containing 'general.useragent.override' which should fix the issue.
Computer Economics: research on strategic and financial management of information systems
Microsoft is as guilty as anyone of forcing upgrades whether they are ready or not in a way that makes everyone want to upgrade.
If you used the Office suite you would find that when you saved a file the default format is not backwards compatible. This primed the pump, if you will and made everyone think they should upgrade to keep compatible. Mind you these were simple text documents, or maybe presentations. I saw this some with CAD files as well, but the design market is much more polarized between Microstation and AutoCAD. With DXF/DWG in 12 or 14 as an acceptable middle ground for exchanging files.
More security patches inthe future, and maybe the customers will be less stressed out.
The survey indicates that IT decision makers value “reduced dependence on software vendors” as the most important advantage of open source. This indicates that software buyers must feel some level of dependence on proprietary software vendors, from which they desire freedom. Such dependence includes reliance on the vendor for maintenance and support and the necessity for the buyer to accept version upgrades that the buyer may not need or want.

A list of open-source HTTP proxies written in python
for future reference, here is a list of a bunch of open source proxies written in python.
A HTTP proxy is a piece of software that acts as an intermediary between HTTP client software (i.e. browser) and HTTP server software. The proxy receives all requests from the browser, and relays them (possibly modified) onto the server. Likewise, it receives all responses from the server, and relays them (possibly modified) to the client. HTTP Proxies can be used for a wide variety of tasks, including filtering, logging, caching, etc, etc, etc. At some stage, most web programmers will make use of some form of proxy.
