Slashdot Twists My Words about Yahoo (by Jeremy Zawodny)
Jeremy talks about choices, and when companies decide you want your default homepage changed...
Big shock, huh? Slashdot, known for their world-class editorial standards, cited the recent BusinessWeek story about Yahoo and decided that I was complaining about Yahoo! supporting adware.
[...]
What I was commenting on is bundling of one download with another and, more specifically, the fact that one installs the other or makes "helpful" changes (like default search engine or home page) by default rather than being an opt-in process.Of all the people I asked recently, nobody can find any evidence that I was writing about spyware, adware, or malware. Well, nobody except the folks at Slashdot, I guess.

Forever Geek » Nerds Are For Dorks
check out this cool site, I read it in my aggregator and it has been consistenly interesting for the last few months.
There are just so many sites out there that get overlooked that many geeks may find useful. Forever Geek was created to provide geeks with interesting links that most sites would overlook through an interface that cuts to the chase without being too distracting.
Robot Exclusion Protocol (Ftrain.com)
It was about 2 feet tall and made of metal, with bright camera-lens eyes and a few dozen gripping arms.

Never know what you'll find When I bought my car last year, I found out the stock CD player it came with didn't work. There was obviously a CD stuck in it, jamming it up. I tried getting the CD out, but no use. So I just went out and bought a new one. Well, I was kind of bored today, so looking through my trunk I found the player. I decided to take it apart to finally get that jammed CD out just for the hell of it. It turns out, there wasn't just one, but 4 CDs jammed in the player:R Kelly (no title on the disc)

three gmail invites...

I've been using gmail for two weeks and it rocks. Wonderful user interface.
With the rumors of a google browser I think they are well on their way to grabbing the desktop market. Who better than a services company to handle the UI???
It has been pointed out that refreshing this page sometimes causes all of the blogbody to disappear. I think this involves changes I made to the default template. I never see it because I use a gecko engine for page rendering and it seems to be an IE problem. All though I can request multiple refreshes and get it to replicate on my computer.
Expect changes... as I revert to the default and slowly add back the customizations I need.
Most likely I will remove the additional stylesheets as well. Plain-Jane and Stormy to remain...
My Wandering Thoughts :: Announcements :: Css Styles Added
I love the simplicity of blosxom. But for my investment in MT already, I would toy with blosxom. I like the license. I like the look. I already paid for MT...
I believe this is the way blosxom should be used. Themes are used to control what is displayed, and CSS stylesheets are used to determine how it is displayed. You can choose a style in the navigation panel on the left ( currently the only two choices are the ShadowBar style, and a style based on the original blosxom html flavour. ) This choice is independent of the theme used.

The horror.
Let's face it, blimps are fun.
Idle Words: head seek access times
Maciej Ceglowski has an interesting weblog: Idle Words (that's what we're calling them now, right?)
People are starting to reminisce about backup systems they have known. It is like a standup act for the server-room set. Picture the evil mastermind from "A Princess Bride", except with long black hair and a paunch, talking about head seek access times. Nature or nurture?

Check out this nifty pointer to a CSS customizable mouseover event for your title elements in your html tags.
Too cool. I should have this up this weekend.
