memory upgrade for the HP Pavilion ze2308wm Notebook
Looking for memory to upgrade the HP I found a few good buys on memory.
I see
- 256MB PC2700 DDR 333MHZ 200PIN SODIMM 2.5V CL2.5 NON-ECC
- 512MB PC2700 DDR 333MHZ 200PIN SODIMM 2.5V CL2.5 NON-ECC
1GB PC3200 DDR 400MHZ 200PIN SODIMM 2.5V CL3 UNBUFF NON-ECC
either one looks like a great upgrade but i'm going to get two 512's for 1024MB just for fun, an d then I'll bump the video shared to 128MB...

oh and i don't think you can use a gig stick, thanks to Denise for pointing this out to me. The laptop has two dimm slots. But maxes out at 1024MB in the bios.
I don't think that a 1 gig stick will work... anyone care to verify this?

I bought and installed the 512MB and put the 256MB in the top slot so when I upgrade I'll remove the 256MB and bring the total to 1024MB... Right now with them both installed the system is 768MB and I did bump video ram up inthe bios to 128MB so the OS sees a total of 640MB.
Hope this helps!
Would it be possible to install a stick of 512 from the link above and add it to the 256 already there. Or do I need 2 of the same memory.
Well, I have installed a 1gb module PC3200 and it runs
without any problems. SO I believe I could install another one to the second slot without probs.
Although I personally haven't tried it and still looking for some 512MB deals, I have heard of people installing a 1GB stick without any problems:

Don't listen to the HP techs. Most of the time they only go by the info they have at hand and not by real world time tested actual postive information.
I talked to a HP helpdesk technician. They told me that the reports of haveing a max of 2gb's RAM were false. They said that it is a 1gb max with 512mb in each slot.
