hacking wordpress stylesheets for cascading style sheets

after wasting an inordinate amount of time on a stylesheet for ie compatibility, I'm wondering if Wordpress is the right fit for me... I am now considering switching to Movable Type 3.2 for a small site I consult on. I'm going to try munging the stylesheet back into an acceptable level of presentation. Any one else have internet explorer compatibility nightmares?
