ClamWin Free Antivirus. GNU GPL Free Software Open Source Virus Scanner. Free Windows Antivirus. Stay Virus Free with Free Software.
I'm going to try this on my box at home, I have a trial version of PC-Cillin installed and this is a free alternative.

ClamWin is a Free Antivirus for Microsoft Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/2003. It provides a graphical user interface to the Clam AntiVirus engine.

No!!
What you need is a complete free (as in freedom) operating system, like GNU/Linux.
Of course the firewall (with full power) is free too.

I installed this last night, remvoing Trend because I had a trial version installed.

ClamWin looks OK, it isn't a real-time scanner but considering the overhead of something like that, maybe that's ok.

It can scan incoming Outlook inbox's for virus attachments.

It installs a Right-Mouse context menu hook for scanning any file by right clicking it.

It can auto update to the Clam AntiVirus definitions which are constantly updated for the server package so it is not going to fall behind.

So far it seems good and I am going to try it on a few more machines. Now all I need is a free personal firewall.
