Flash Photography Is Evil

TaoSpace: Tip #4: Shoot more, cull more
Flash photos are evil, it is annoying to get zapped, and most of them come out so flat looking. My personal digital photo experience is never to use a flash. I will sidelight a portrait with a single incandescent light. I also shoot multiple shots. A shoot with 60 shots, may have 5 I like. So shoort more, and use less flash!

A single shot of a group of people will always have people in weird poses, with their eyes closed etc. If your camera can take several shots per second you'll have shot them several times before they even realise you've started. Of course if you are using flash this will be a problem...

Totally agree with you. The only way to prevent this is to use a dedicated flash (not a popup) and bounce it. That usually gives more acceptable results. All the same though, if you can do it without flash the results are usually superior.

The ratio of 60 to 5 sounds familiar too :).
