Microsoft in talks with SiS on Xbox2 south bridge order
The best thing I can say about SiS is at least their not Via. I have not been impressed with the performance of my averatec 3120v or my Shuttle SS40G, for Office and INternet type task the machine was OK. Severely hampered by a lack of a AGP slot, the PCI card I put in managed to turn in mildly decent performance. The Averatec barely plays UT at 640 x 480 and UT2K3 is not possible to even load. Part of this is of course the 3D chipset. I realize that, but hey my point is SiS seems like the third run.

Via ticked me off with the Abit KT7A-RAID boards which went through almost bi-weekly drivers upgrades. Sure I didn't need to upgrade that often, but hey they should have their act together enough that thye don't need to patch every two weeks. I think the answer is that microsoft is chasing a slipping margin. At this rate expect the third xbox, possibly the Xbox3D to actually be a desireable system :P

Microsoft is in talks with Taiwan-based Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) on potential orders for a south bridge chip for the Xbox2 game console, according to high-level SiS sources.
