Wal-Mart cancels 'smart-shelf' trial
Major set back for RFID industry. Adoption by Wal-Mart was seen as the keystone of broadbased roll out of the radio frequency ID technology. With this speedbump and a per unit cost hovering around 10 cents, which is not expected to drop for the next 10 years, we will most likely read about RFID but the chance of it being in your razor blades is zero for quite sime time.

Wal-Mart Stores has unexpectedly canceled testing for an experimental wireless inventory control system, ending one of the first and most closely watched efforts to bring controversial radio frequency identification technology to store shelves in the United States.
