Installing Mandrake 9.0 on an ECS A900
A reader commented on a previous post that he had documented installing Mandrake on the ECS laptop. This is a fresh pointer to his work.
This Web site provides a mini-HOWTO that addresses four problems that are encountered during the installation of Mandrake GNU/Linux 9.0 into an Elite Computer Systems (ECS) Desknote. The resultant system is fully featured with drivers for the video bridge, on-board modem and sound. Unfortunately, none of these drivers are supported by Sis or PCtel. The fact that the drivers exist is testement to the work of open source contributers who have more GNU/Linux knowledge than I do. I just gathered up the packages and invested alot of time to found out that they do indeed work together.
