SFF TECH: IWILL XP4 Review
I'm intrigued by the falling entry point for farily robust systems. But still concerned that they only fitted one DIMM slot in the box. Come on what were they thinking? Also I have to reread the specs on the Celeron 1.7Ghz but Intel Celeron 1.7GHz - Pentium 4 Powered review on Anandtech concludes that the AMD XP 1600+ is comparable and even exceeds performance in some areas... I guess the final decision would come down to price, chipset, and could you live with one DIMM slot

It's obvious from the beginning that the XP4 isn't going to match a high-end Shuttle XPC for connectivity or expandability, but these also aren't the features IWILL is emphasizing. Rather than going the Shuttle route of building a high-end SFF and charging $250-$300 , IWILL has positioned the XP4 as one of the cheapest SFF systems on the market. As of 2/28/03, NewEgg is offering the XP4 for $180 $10 shipping, which is significantly less than any of your modern Shuttle systems.

Its quite possible, in fact, to build a sub-$500 system around an XP4 SFF. All of the following numbers are drawn from NewEgg.com and are current as of 2/28/03. Prices can, and will, change.

P4-based Celeron 1.7 GHz: $54
512 Meg Crucial PC2100 DDR: $72
20 Gigabyte Maxtor 7200 RPM HDD: $67
MSI 52X CD-ROM: $17
IWILL XP4: $180
Shipping (est): $40

Total: $430.
