The Ophcrack LiveCD is a bootable Linux CD-ROM containing ophcrack 2.2 and a set of tables (SSTIC04-10k). It allows for testing the strength of passwords on a Windows machine without having to install anything on it. Just put it into the CD-ROM drive, reboot and it will try to find a Windows partition, extract its SAM and start auditing the passwords.
XP passwords rendered useless: Brian's Buzz Newsletter
I've fixed XP Home edition problems for other people. I was never impressed enough to try it. I have seen in the past instances where RC on Windows 2000 booted without an admin password. I haven't established a procedure to replicate this, just that I have seen it happen more than once. This occured while attempting a data recovery on a drive.
But this gaping security hole is outrageous. It is repeatable, and reinforces the old adage about maintaining physical security.
and you don't even have mcse certification !!!

Windows XP, which has been marketed by Microsoft as "the most secure
version ever," has been found to have a flaw so bone-headed that it renders
passwords ineffective as a means of keeping people out of your PC.
Reader Tony DeMartino alerted me to the problem, which all administrators
of Windows XP machines should immediately take to heart:
- Anyone with a Windows 2000 CD can boot up a Windows XP box and start the Windows 2000 Recovery Console, a troubleshooting program.
- Windows XP then allows the visitor to operate as Administrator without a password, even if the Administrator account has a strong password.
- The visitor can also operate in any of the other user accounts that may be present on the XP machine, even if those accounts have passwords.
- Unbelievably, the visitor can copy files from the hard disk to a floppy disk or other removable media - something even an Administrator is normally prevented from doing when using the Recovery Console.
You can extract your password hash with this tool and upload it for decoding to
