One way it expects to reach these goals is to replace all of its Sun Microsystems (nasdaq: SUNW - news - people ) systems worldwide with its own Dell (nasdaq: DELL - news - people ) servers running GNU/Linux. It's a project the company started last year and expects to complete by the end of this year, says Chief Information Officer Randy Mott. "We've already moved 14 systems to GNU/Linux," says Mott, referring to corporate back-end applications.
