Happy at pair!

pair Networks

I was online December 31st and decided to take advantage of pair's triple pre-pay discount for current customers. I saved $86 for the year, wahoo!

If your looking for a managed host, they have been good for me. I can recommend them unconditionally for what they are, a BSD based webhost, I hardly ever need customer support, so I can't say whether it is sufficient, but in my case, since I know *nix and I've been happy.

I still have a JohnCompanies account that I've been using for development work, in my case I opted for the GNU/Linux Virtual Server.

They were able to answer a question I had and did indeed steer me in the right direction when I had trouble with Apache and custom CGI stuff.

For what you get, root access and an IP, it is a reasonable expense, I did reread the fine print and you are contracted for three months when you sign up so keep that in mind if you need to get on and out in a shorter period of time.
