RPM's and Source :: Redhat apache RPM upgrades

| | TrackBacks (0)

Just waded through a week of RPM installs, erases and reinstalls trying to get apache and a CGI to play nice together. (Redhat 7.2 with installed apache-1.3.22-6) Throw in CPAN perl modules, which I set up twice. Once as Bundle and next as separate RPMs.

This should have been a one stop, configure and go. Instead it turned into the project that just kept eating up time.

I finally got dumped off the server at 2am Saturday night, and called it quits.
With a fresh perspective the next day, I stopped Apache, grabbed the latest 1.3.27 tarball and extracted, configured and did make, make install.

5 minutes later I had the CGI running as originally planned.

Lesson learned:
Use The Source!
