Samsung 191T 19'' LCD Review

AnandTech - Samsung 191T 19'' LCD
I'm convinced I want a Samsung...

Another great feature is the pivot head. Using the software included with the monitor, all we had to do is right click and the monitor's picture was oriented vertically. Next we swiveled the head and suddenly we had a 1024x1280 display. For people who work on spreadsheets and tables this will be extremely appealing. It was much more comfortable writing this review when the monitor was in its vertical position. Unfortunately, it is a little awkward to physically rotate the screen. We thought at first there was a lever or something still in place; but in fact, the monitor feels just difficult to rotate.

I bought the 191t to use with the radeon digital video card and dvi connections, The screen went black and back to normal at about 15 second intervals, driving me crazy. I called Samsung and was told they hadn't heard of the problem but checked while i was on the phone. They got it too.
Whats the fix I asked? We don't know but when our engineer gets back from Korea we'll ask him was the reply.
Whaat kind of company is this?

Samsung 191t sure received a lot of good reviews according to days of research I did on the web. Although i was very disappointed in the stated 25ms pixel response time, there is just know way that can be right. When my fish screen saver kicks in the fish actually stutter and when watching tv in full screen mode with my ATI Radeon video card on the fox news channel where text scrolls at the bottom of the screen it also stutters. Another big problem with this monitor is if you turn your sitting lights down low then fill the screen with black with the monitors backlite on you can see white like streaks and uneven white color, I thought at first it was something on the screen.when i called Samsung Tec support they tried to have me wipe it off with no luck it just got worst something strange is happening under the screen. Well the drivers were installed fresh from samsungs web site and we tried 3 different monitors all with the same problems - the white streaks were in different spots on each monitor. I really loved this 191t and called every body including Samsung many of times trying to correct the problems with no luck, so i did return it back to the stores where i had purchased them.In my research I did find a couple of other monitors i liked including the SONY SDM x82. It did not seem to get as good of reviews but let me tell you this monitor has none of - and i mean non of the problems the 191t has. Its video playing DVD and fox news with its scrolling text is perfect plus this thing is so bright i could light up my entire house, images and text look 3 dimensional, color is vivid bright and sharp. I will have to say that it was hard to let go of that Samsung 191t but i just could not handle those major problems it had. The quality of the SONY's cabinet was flawless while the 191t had manufacturing blemishes. By the way i have not tried any games yet on the SONY and deffently found the samsung to be totally unacceptable for any fast pace or even slow paced gaming.

Thanks for the info Robert. If you are unhappy with the monitor I would return it. I haven't bought one yet. Although when I do get a panel, game play will be a minor criteria.

You're real world feed back is important for others making similar decisions...

I hope you were using the DVI input, would you clarify that?

I just received the monitor and I thought the blurring and performance in Unreal Tournament was definitely not good. It made me feel sick. I have a GeForce 4 Ti4600 and the fact is, this monitor just doesn't keep up. I am VERY disappointed.
